Recalibration for Teachers

How Harnessing Inner Balance Transforms Classroom Calm

Our engaging classes will provide an overview of how stress impacts the mind and body, what mindfulness is and how to harness it daily, and engaging, practical tools to promote well-being personally and professionally.

Using emerging science and ancient wisdom, this interactive workshop will teach skills in breath work, mindfulness, and self-awareness while creating new, positive habits that foster social emotional well-being in the classroom and school community at large.

​

Teachers will get an overview on current neuroscience breakthroughs and other evidence-based approaches that impact human biology, the subconscious mind, and individual performance. Real stories of success will be shared with the use of these techniques in the classroom.

Classes include assigned readings with discussions, facilitator presentations, and small group collaborative activities with breakouts. In-person and virtual classroom options available.

  • Live, virtual via Zoom

Program Objectives & Outline

Teachers will gain the tools and insights for establishing a positive, healthy, and safe learning environment and classroom culture by learning the following objectives: 

​

  • How to identify their own emotions and their effect on others, including in the classroom

  • The chemical, physiological, and mental impact of stress and certain patterns of thought, as well as techniques for management

  • The definition and importance of establishing inner balance through practices that include mindfulness, breathwork, meditation, and positive movement

  • The practical application of mindfulness and meditation in the classroom to de-escalate, collaboratively resolve conflict.

  • An overview on current neuroscience breakthroughs and other evidence-based approaches that impact human biology, the subconscious mind, and individual performance.

  • Skills learned in this workshop will enable participants to implement practices immediately, with insightful results.

Syllabus

Class - Foundations of Well-being

  • Introduction to present-moment awareness and the importance of happiness

  • Teaching basic breathwork for immediate stress relief and cortisol reset

  • Exploration of the four elements of happiness and uncovering one's True Self

  • Group exercises and breakout sessions for sharing and community-building

  • Self-assessment to monitor progress and set goals for the program

Class - Stress Management and Self-awareness

  • Recap and self-assessment from the previous session

  • Understanding the elements of stress and its effects on the body

  • Techniques to become aware of negative thought patterns and manage them effectively

  • Practice work assigned between sessions to implement learned techniques

  • Focus on self-awareness and self-management skills for personal and professional success

Class - Communication and Active Listening

  • Recap and share progress from previous assignments

  • Introduction to the concept of Active Listening and its importance

  • Exploration of Happy Teachers programs and their impact

  • Additional breathwork technique introduced

  • Q&A session for community engagement and support

Class - Mindfulness and Self-care Practices

  • Final self-assessment and sharing of anonymous results

  • Dive into mindfulness practices such as gratitude and empathy

  • Learning new breath exercises and sharing experiences in breakout groups

  • Emphasis on long-term self-care practices and healthy boundaries

  • Development of skills to practice and model, both independently and in the classroom, with provided materials for continued support
